Product Updates: Easier Intake and Unique Documents
Planning for aging and dying shouldn’t feel like death itself—but let’s be honest, the current solutions often do. That’s why it’s time legacy and estate planning got a makeover.
Enter Legado.
We’re making legacy and estate planning as easy as booking your next vacation. Because without a plan, you’re landing at the wrong airport, missing your bags, and the hotel never got your reservation. Same goes for your legacy—except the luggage is emotional, and everyone’s yelling.
With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce updates to our product that make this possible. And just like an overzealous tour guide making bad jokes, we’re just getting started!
7 Easy Steps, One Topic at a Time
We’ve streamlined the intake process into seven manageable steps, each focusing on a certain element you’ll want to consider when making a thoughtful plan.
It takes most people 20-60 minutes to complete the journey, and timing pends on whether you’re creating the plan with someone, how detailed your wishes are, or how many times you’re interrupted. 😂
Better Packages
We’ve found that analysis paralysis does not mix well with legacy and estate planning. If staring at a wall of toothpaste in the grocery store feels overwhelming, imagine how it feels when someone starts throwing around names like Dynasty Trust, Spendthrift Trust, and Testamentary Trust. Most people just walk away—and honestly, I would too.
That’s why we now offer only two packages:
Essential Package – Ideal for those without real estate or dependents. This plan includes a Will and does not avoid probate.
Standard Package – Best for those with real estate or dependents, since it includes a Will and Revocable Living Trust. This plan helps you avoid probate.
When it comes to Trusts, what most folks don’t realize is that there are really only two kinds of trusts:
Revocable (can be changed)
Irrevocable (cannot be changed)
All those other names? They’re just features—like options on a car. Think of a trust like a vehicle.
You start by choosing the model: revocable or irrevocable. Then you add the features you need, maybe a spendthrift provision (like child locks), or a QTIP clause (like a backup camera for surviving partners). It’s all about customizing the ride to fit your life.
Most of those features can be included in the Trust we provide in our Standard Package. All you have to do is just make it clear what sort of guardrails you want.

Exclusive Documents
Wills and trusts? That’s just the beginning. We recognize that planning and settling an estate goes far beyond the legal stuff. That’s why our packages include exclusive documents you won’t find anywhere else, like:
Advanced Medical Directive Recommendations
With over five common types of AMDs, it’s important to state which ones you want so you can make sure they’re properly in place. Plus it also serves as a helpful checklist.End-of-Life Celebration Wishes
While many of us assume our loved ones know what we’d want for our end-of-life gathering, it’s best to ensure it’s documented. Our End-of-Life Celebration Wishes document outlines your preferences clearly, so your loved ones don’t have to wonder or argue.Legacy Profiles
Our legacy doesn’t start the day we die, it starts the day we begin living intentionally. That’s why we created Legacy Profiles. They help you identify which of the five legacy types you’re shaping: Family, Professional, Environmental, Philanthropic, or Financial.Pet Estate Codicil & Pet Trust
Many pets have better dental hygiene than some humans I know. That’s why both of our packages include the option to clearly outline how your fur or feathered friends should be cared for in your absence.Digital Details
Your digital footprint is a key part of your identity. It’s important to outline where your accounts live and what you want done with them. This helps your loved ones handle your estate with less stress.Legacy Library
A curated collection of tools, products, and services to support aging, caregiving, and end-of-life planning—because most of us don’t know what’s out there until we need it.
Shaping Our Legacy
We’ve been sold this idea that it’s inappropriate to talk about death and dying and that there are only a few “right ways” to do things. Just like we were once told it was impolite to talk about money… and then we realized silence only served to hide inequality. This is similar.
Talking about death and dying isn’t taboo—it’s how we become empowered and start demanding better. And the truth is, we’ve been kept in the dark on purpose.
Case in point: try to find the 1990 AARP study recommending that “state and local bar associations should require members of the probate bar, when drafting a will, to disclose the estimated cost of the eventual probate proceeding.” In short, AARP wanted attorneys to be upfront about the real cost of probate, especially when clients chose a will over a trust.
So why is that study so hard to find? Many speculate that a group of probate attorneys worked hard to bury it, because, as one attorney put it, the probate process is their “guaranteed retirement annuity program.” Here is an article that cites some of the quotes from the study.
Something’s got to change. With the greatest wealth transfer in history now underway, this is the moment to shift the culture around legacy and estate planning.
What better way to start than by getting this into the hands of more people—by offering it as an employee benefit.
